Wee Care - General InformationCorporal punishment will not be administered by the teacher or assistant. Unacceptable behavior will be dealt with on an individual basis amongst the teacher, child, and parents. A child behavioral policy is included in the registration packet. Safety: Teachers are required to have a current first aid certificate. The school will have a first aid kit and will use first aid procedures. There will be posted fire and earthquake drill procedures and periodic drills throughout the school year. Age Requirement: To enroll in the Wee Care Christian Preschool, your child must be three or four years of age by September 1st. Each child must also be able to take care of his or her own bathroom needs. Classroom Volunteers and Field Trips: Parents are invited to participate by helping in the classroom and on field trips. Background checks are required. Children other than those registered in Wee Care are not permitted to participate so that full attention can be on the learning, safety and welfare of the Wee Care children. Background Checks: All teacher and Volunteers are requires to have a full background check. You can pick up a Criminal Background check applications from you child’s teacher or from the church’s main office. School Days: We will begin our school year within a week of the first day Newberg public schools begin. We will end the year by the end of May or within the first week of June. Our school will follow the same legal holidays and vacations as the Newberg Public Kindergarten. Please check the preschool calendar for any additional changes. Weather related closures of the Newberg Public Schools will be observed by the preschool. If morning public kindergarten is canceled due to inclement weather, preschool will also be canceled. Clothing: Hats, coats, and sweaters should be clearly marked with the child’s initials. Comfortable, washable playclothes will be best for school. The children will be painting, gluing, and engaging in other activities that may soil their clothes. This should be kept in mind when choosing clothing for your child to wear. The clothes should be easy for the child to undo so they can take care of their bathroom needs. The school is not responsible for damage to personal property or lost or stolen articles. Hats cannot be worn in the classroom. Heelies (shoes with roller skates in the heel) are prohibited. Soliciting: No private marketing of products; i.e., Avon, Mary Kay, Cookie Lee, Creative Memories, etc., are to be solicited to other Wee Care families, Wee Care staff, or put in the cubbies of Wee Care children.
